HOGG AUDITORIUM
VENUE: Hogg Memorial Auditorium
LOCATION: On Campus, Behind the Flawn Academic Center (FAC), Due South of W 24th Street & Whitis Avenue Intersection, Austin TX 78712
Constructed in 1933, Hogg Memorial Auditorium was the very first theatre at the University of Texas at Austin. For years, this auditorium was the main source of culture on campus. Through the years, thousands of students, including Rip Torn, Tommy Tune, Harvey Schmidt, and many other entertained audiences on this stage.
Hogg Memorial Auditorium is located in the shadow of the UT Tower on the original 40 acres at the historic heart of campus. With seating for 1,200, Hogg Auditorium is a charming mid-sized venue that offers a close proximity between the stage and the audience.
Although fully operative now, the Performing Arts Center looks forward to restoring and renovating this historic landmark theatre in order to preserve this cultural treasure for years to come.
